Obituary of Jeremy Jerrell "JJ" Diaz
Jeremy Jerrell "JJ" Diaz, 36, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Lancaster, Ohio passed away on August 19, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on June 27, 1986 in Monterey, California to Elvin Augustus Diaz III and Felicia Laverne (Miles) Diaz. His father, a Bronze Star Recipient, was stationed in the US Army in California, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Alaska, and Colorado, where Jeremy spent most of his life.JJ graduated from Sierra High School in 2004. He attended Pikes Peak Community College and earned a Bachelor's Degree at CSU Pueblo. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Sociology at UCCS. Jeremy worked as a Program Manager for Juvenile Justice at Aspen Pointe from 2010-2016, where he positively impacted countless children's lives and helped them to cope with each of their individual challenges. As a teen, JJ was a volunteer football coach for Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation and was affectionately known as Coach JJ. Jeremy went on to become a licensed Real Estate Broker/Agent for Re/Max Real Estate on the Kevin Basinger Team, and most recently was brought onto eXp Realty's Crystal Sisler Team. JJ enjoyed the freedom of being a Real Estate Agent, with the added perk of being the one to help others upgrade their lives when buying a home. Most of all, Jeremy was a father. Embracing the talents and strengths of everyone he knew, he no doubt strived to cultivate the talents of each of his eight children. If there was one thing he knew how to do, it was to boast about someone else's skills or abilities to everyone else.Everything about JJ was BIG. In the words of his youngest brother, Xavier, "Everything about you was big. Big heart, Big passion, Big anger, Big influence, Big hugs, Big love" and there is now a Big void where he once occupied. Uncle JJ always made sure each one of his nieces and nephews knew how much he loved them.In his early adult years, Jeremy met his former spouse, Lenae (Mascareas) Diaz and from that union came five beautiful children.JJ met his wife, Melissa in October of 2021. They married on December 4, 2021. He adopted her three children as his own, and started building a beautiful life with her. Their dream was to ultimately work Real Estate together, and eventually start their own team, MJD Realty.Jeremy is preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents, Willie O. Sr. and Hazel Brown; paternal grandfather, Elvin A.
