Obituary of Frances Elizabeth Childers

In memory of our dear mother, Frances Elizabeth Childers, who passed away on August 24, 2022, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the loving mother of Jennifer and Michael and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Fran was a kind, caring and generous person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a warm person who was willing to help anyone, and instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. As a native to California, she was born on April 19, 1945 in Los Angeles and welcomed into the arms of her adoptive parents Florence and Charles. After graduating from Dominguez High School in 1963, she went on to study at Cal State Long Beach College. With a degree in sociology and a minor in math she chose to devote her time as a high school math teacher. She spent most of those years at Mission Viejo High School, enjoying her social network of teachers and being loved by her students. After a thirty year career in teaching, she joyfully entered retirement with plans of traveling and enjoying grandchildren. Fran poured herself into her new role as a grandmother, her faithful community of friends, and her love of genealogy. During those seventeen years of retirement, she traveled, took cruises, played cards, and assisted countless families with their genealogy searches. In 2021, she made a big move to Colorado Springs, Colorado to live near her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. She was an amazing mom, dedicated grandma "Nini", creative, adventurous and we will all miss her dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Matt) Gray; son, Mike (Nadia) Kurrle; grandsons, Noah, Isaac, Weston and Bennett Kurrle; and granddaughters, Elsa Kurrle and Madison Gray.
