I am proud to be able to call Oris a friend and mentor. I will always hold dear the stories from his mom's journal about what a pip he was as a child. I feel fortunate to have been able to share time with him and mutual dear friends Jon and Tanya, complete with chocolate cake. He will be sorely missed by many. My sincere condolences to his family.

This guy Oris touched my heart and funny bone many years ago. It stated with him bringing me a piece of chocolate cake, then a book about his childhood that he wrote, what a story. He brought me some placemats that I absolutely cherish. Dropped by the VA with bag of candy now and then. What a giving, loveable "old & ugly" guy (his words not mine"). You will be missed my friend, I'm so glad you touched my ❣. Shirley Moore

My Grandpa was a great man who believed in everyone. He wanted everyone to live a full life that made them happy. Even during the last time that I saw him, he reminded me to follow my heart and find a cause to champion. I will carry the memories that I have of him throughout the rest of my life.

I was 18 years old and in a ton of pain. One of the darkest moments in my life. I was heading down a path of no return. This man had a 6th sense and could ALWAYS tell when things weren't right. He drove up from Albuquerque one night and threw a suitcase at me and said you are coming with me. I lived with him and my Aunt Patsy and cousins for about a year and half. Didn't know it at the time, but looking back I realize and know certainly my life was saved in that moment. I went from being a knuckle head boy to a Man. I am forever grateful for that moment and what I learned. Love and miss you Uncle.....

Oris was a man that I try and emulate everyday. As a youth, I was more than a hand full and Oris always loved me. He had a way with people that made you want to be better. He truly enjoyed life and his presence was infectious. Looking back now, it's evident that he has truly shaped my life for good. Until we meet again "old man".

Oris will be missed. As a young man and as an adult today Oris constantly reached out to me to see how I was doing. Some of those messages came when times were tough and always brightened my day. I will miss those messages. I Love and will miss you.

Oris would always come in the salon with one request... to leave looking as good as Clark Gable. He loved to bring rumors to salon of me calling him old and ugly! He loved to tease my son, Cael, about earning his freckles one kiss at time. Oris enjoyed making Cael turn red with his favorite story of Cael teaching our dog to pee in the front yard. He brought so much love and laughter to the salon. He will be missed and spoke of often. He had the best ornery spirit and always willing to give up a dollar or two to give his friends bad haircuts. He was a great man with big heart!

Q: What will you never forget about Oris? A: Mr Reed helped me learn driving equines. His experience and insight in how to handle and use animals came from years of experience. He had a real love for mules and donkeys thru his entire life. He helped me go places with my animals that I never thought I could. My regret is that I didn't ask enough questions. I know what his answers would be to my questions. He would simply say "you know how to do it. Just keep asking. They will get it". He taught patience even though it was not one of his outstanding characteristics. He wanted you to do it his way or he wasn't going to waste his time. A gentleman to the end, I will remember his smile, his laugh, his pranks and hopefully part of what he tried to teach me. He tried hard and we were not as good of students as we could have been. His friendship brought us to great appreciation for his generation and the things they had to do to survive. His heart was full of love for family, friends, and country. His military service was extraordinary. His life was amazing and his lessons will never be forgotten. Rest easy Mr Reed. You have earned the peace you are in. We miss you and appreciate all your life brought to us
