Obituary of Garrett Scott Ives
Earth displays
a paint splashed canvas--
each flower unique,
the dance they sway in
softest breeze.
One moment in time.
All merely a sigh
beneath bright sky,
up on high golden
son slips quickly
without warning, such--
the beauty of every morning.
I pause—breathless,
amazed and dazed,
wondering why
glorious blessings
pass quickly by.
I hear your sigh
in every flower just
one more moment,
one more hour.
Earth the color of
your eyes, it’s
no surprise
you’re the dance of
every flower
before my eyes.
Garrett Scott Ives passed away on February 6th, 2024.
Garrett was born at Swedish Hospital on February 27th, 1979. He was not married and had no children, but brought joy to all of those around him. He was self-described as a, “Poet, Holy Man, Philosopher, Artist, Musician, Avid Outdoorsman, and Web Developer,” and he lived his life accordingly. Garrett’s passion towards the things he loved was admirable, and he incited greatness in all of those around him. He always left everyone’s lives a little better just by meeting and spending time with them.
Garrett was one of a few who could equally write code and play music, or both write poems and rebuild something complicated. He loved Taos, in New Mexico. He loved the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. There was no building, house, or apartment large enough to house his personality.
Garrett is survived by his father, Ken; his Mother Lyn; his brother Carl; and his sister in-law Sarah. He is also survived by two nieces, Genesis and Jade; and two nephews, Gabriel and Turner.
A celebration of life will be scheduled and shared with his hosts of family and friends.
