Obituary of Charles William Davidson

Charles William Davidson, 90, passed away early Monday morning on December 18, 2023, at Brookdale Broadmoor Assisted Living in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born on October 11, 1933, to Charles William and Florence Louise Gordon in Decatur, Illinois.

Charles was better known to his friends as “Dave”. He was raised with the name Charles William Gordon, Jr. and was known to his family and friends in his youth as “Jack”.

After working numerous odd jobs in his teen years Charles joined the Army in 1953. He served his country proudly for over 21 years before retiring in 1974 as a Platoon Sergeant. He was stationed in Germany five times, Colorado twice, Washington, Kansas, Missouri, and Virginia. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam in the Engineer Bridge Corp as a Bridge Specialist, and was extremely proud of his service there, receiving the Bronze Star twice. After retiring he went on to work at King Pin Lanes until he retired.

When he was younger Charles enjoyed playing and coaching basketball teams on base. He also spoke often of playing the cello with bands on military ships going from station to station. He enjoyed bowling on leagues locally and travelling around the country for bowling tournaments. He also enjoyed boating, camping and fishing with his wife Paula, and family.

In 1956 Dave married his first wife, Mary Ann, together they had 6 children. Dave married his second wife Paula in 1981, they shared 42 years together until his passing.

Charles is survived by his wife, Paula, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sons, Charlie (Wendy), Larry, Mark, and Robert; Daughters, Barbara, Kathy (Tony), and Pamela; as well 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Richard (Bonnie), and Roger (Judy), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Louise Gordon, a son Bruce Davidson, brothers Donald, Robert, and Marion, sisters Mary, Sue, and Gay. A great grandson, Devin, passed a few days after Dave’s passing.

Per his wishes a private Military Burial with honors has been held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado. No other services will be held.
