Obituary of Jane Elizabeth Milburn

Jane Elizabeth Milburn, 94, of Colorado Springs, Colorado died on November 2, 2023.

She was born to the late Wendell and Sarah Milburn on August 2, 1929 near Belfast, Ohio.

Jane graduated as valedictorian from Belfast High School on May 24, 1947. She enrolled at Wilmington College in Wilmington Ohio in the fall of 1947 where she completed one year of study prior to marrying Jean T. Roush on September 26, 1948. They later divorced after a 20-year marriage having had no children. Jane enrolled at the Ohio State University in the late 1960’s where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education on June 9, 1972. Jane was passionate about the value of education and used her degree to teach English in a community college in Arizona and also assisted juveniles in correctional facilities who were working to obtain their GED’s. She was active as a volunteer throughout her life contributing numerous hours of service to various hospitals, police and sheriff departments in the Scottsdale, Tempe and Phoenix areas. After relocating to Colorado Springs in 2012, she volunteered in local elementary schools through the Foster Grandparent program.

Jane is survived by one nephew, David Milburn and wife, Marianne Camous, of San Mateo, California; two nieces, Suzanne Brink and her husband Phil of Erie, Colorado; and Donna Stauffer and her husband Doug of Ithaca, New York.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Milburn, her sister-inlaw, Jean Voorhis Milburn, and a niece, Cathy Stevens.

A Memorial Service will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Friday, January 26 at 10:30 a.m., at the Friends Church - 950 E. Cimarron St., Colorado Springs, Colorado.
