Dannie Latham

Obituary of Dannie Ross Latham

Born in Evansville, Indiana to Merrill C. Latham and Velma D. (Agee) Latham. At the age of 6 months the family moved to La Junta, Colorado where they stayed until Dan completed grade school. They then moved to Colorado Springs, Colordo where he attended East Junior High and then graduated from Wasson High School.

Dan had many careers over his lifetime but the two most meaningful were The United States Marine Corp and being a truck driver at Transit Mix Concrete/Daniels Sand where he retired in 2000 after 22 years.

Predeceased by his father, mother, brother Robert Metheny and father-in-law Clifford Fiala, SR. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan (Fiala) Latham. Son Mikel (Jill) and daughter Mishel Fowler (Jon) all residing in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandchildren, Abigail, Daniel, Wyatt, Clois and Chyanne. Brothers Phillip (Patricia) and C. Wayne (Jessie) Latham. Mother-in-law Clois Fiala, brother-in-law Clifford Fiala, JR as well as many cousins and extended family.

Dan's love of motorcycles took him from racing the Baha to the top of Pikes Peak and everywhere in between. He was so many things: a MARINE always, a friend whenever needed, a proud and patriotic American, a lover of family and dogs, a story teller extraordinaire, a wise man in his own way, an occasional Pheasant shooter, and a talented golfer. In short, a legend who lived life large. R.I.P. and Semper Fi. You will be missed and your memory cherished.

There will be no services as requested by him. Cremation and spreading of ashes will be at the place he loved the most, the CABIN. A celebration of life will be held sometime in the Spring or Summer. Please, no flowers
