Obituary of Joey Kirby
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joey Dean Kirby, who departed this world on November 25th, 2023. We are so grateful to our Lord Jesus Christ who released him from his pain and debilitating diagnosis.
Born October 14, 1954, Joey brought laughter and warmth to the lives of those around him. Joey was known for his infectious laughter, love of his family, and kindness to others. A devoted husband, Joey leaves behind a legacy of love and countless fun memories.
Joey put his mark in the community as the owner of Kirby’s Carpet Service where he served the community for 40 years. He developed wonderful relationships in the community as a dedicated professional until his diagnosis with Multisystem Atrophy (MSA).
A devoted husband, Joey shared 40 years of marriage with his wife Joy Kirby (Joy Jordan). Together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring companionship. In addition to his wife, Joey leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy (Billy) Kirby and Trisha (Josh) Hensley; and two granddaughters, Zoey and Reagan Kirby. We also want to mention the close “family” that he adopted – Jimmy Warta and Destyne Painter and their boys Trenton and Gavin. His playful spirit and loving nature enriched the lives of these young ones, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Joey’s main love was playing games, especially blackjack and poker. Even in his final years he made sure he took trips to Cripple Creek, Colorado weekly. His love for friendly competition and his strategic mind made every game memorable. He had an amazing sense of humor, always ready for a joke or a witty remark, brightening the room and making people laugh.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Delores Kirby. He is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara Crowder and Laura Kleinschmidt.
As we mourn the loss of Joey, let us celebrate the vibrant life he led and the positive influence he had on those around him. May his memory continue to inspire laughter and kindness. Rest in peace, dear Joey; Your light will forever shine in our hearts.
