Richard Marold

Obituary of Richard Louis Marold

Richard Louis Marold, a benevolent father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend,88, passed away on December 24, 2023.

He grew up in Colorado Springs and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's in Humanities. Over his remarkable life, Richard worked many jobs. From a calligrapher, an umpire, clergy, a hospital administrator, and a writer, his interests were diverse. But, it has been his work as editor of the Cheyenne Mountain Kiva and as a Chataquian, portraying FDR, Nicola Tesla and William Scott Straton, where he found his true passion.

Richard, the oldest of the four Marold boys, was delighted to be surrounded by friends and family. Being an exceptional father to two daughters, Kristen and Karen, was one of his most significant accomplishments. For 30 years, he has been fortunate to be with the love of his life, Terry Fabian.

Richard had an unparalleled ability to connect with people and see how they can contribute good to the world. This inquisitive positivity made him a passionate writer, a meticulous orator, a baseball fanatic, and a shrewd historian. From famously pitching a no-hitter in high school to recently being inducted into the Cheyenne Mountain High School Hall of Fame, his love of this town, specifically Cheyenne Mountain High School, was deeply rooted in his veins.

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Kristen Marold and brothers David Marold and Louis Marold Jr. He is survived by many loved ones, including his wife Terry Fabian, daughter Karen Callahan, grandson Murphy Callahan, son-in-law Richard Callahan, Brother Ronald Marold, Sister-in-Law Suzy Marold and many more friends and family.

Donations in his name may be made to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.

Memorial services will be held in the summer of 2024.
