Obituary of Henry Goudeau
Henry Goudeau, 95, passed away on October 10, 2023 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was born on October 10, 1928 to Chester and Jeanette (Long) Goudeau in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Henry joined the United States Army in 1947 at the age of 18. He had a successful career during which he served in the Vietnam war and the Korean war. He retired in 1977 after thirty-two years. He achieved the rank of Command Sergeant Major (CSM) and was awarded several medals, including the Meritorious Service medal and the Army Commendation medal.
Henry went on to earn an AA degree from Pikes Peak Community College. He also worked for and retired from the El Paso County Department of Social Services.
In his younger years, Henry enjoyed working on cars. In retirement, he spent time working in his yard and going to the gym.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Jeanette Goudeau; his wife of 70 years, Flora Amelia Goudeau; eldest son, Henry Goudeau Jr.; brothers, Earl, Freddie, Louis, Matthew, and Preston; and sisters, Elmer and Rosalie.
Henry is survived by his brother Leroy; sister Yvonne (Goudeau) Blanchard; son, Antonio Pierre; daughters, Grace Evonne Rayos-Ram, Julianna Whigham, and Tamara Edna Williams; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
