Kim Welsh

Obituary of Kim Allan Welsh

Kim Allan Welsh was born on July 20, 1961, to Howard and Jeanie Welsh in Grant, Nebraska.

He was the baby of the family and the only boy. He would often tell people that he “grew up on the farm”.

At eight years old, he moved to Imperial, Nebraska when his parents built their motel business. He worked on the Kuenning farm in high school and survived accidentally lighting himself on fire.

Kim attended school at North Platte Community College and obtained an associate degree in construction. He then felt God calling him to pursue solar engineering and moved to Colorado Springs to attend Colorado Technical College. He received his associate degree in solar engineering in 1983. He moved to Greeley to work with Earth Homes where he got his start in construction.

Kim and Kim Renee were married on November 22, 1986, in Greeley, Colorado. They started their family and moved to Colorado Springs in 1988 so that Kim Renee could start her career in audiology. He worked for a company that built sunrooms before he decided to create his own business. Remodeling was his main focus, but he also built additions and new homes. He was a craftsman; detailed and precise. To Kim, it was about giving his best all the time.

Kim’s passion for hunting was sparked by his dad. They were hunting buddies. Hunting deer, geese, ducks, and coyotes, and eventually elk, antelope, and even a mountain goat. He taught all of his children how to hunt and he was in the middle of passing that tradition on to the grandkids. This love of hunting spilled over into helping guide hunts for many friends and family members. He loved hunting, but it was more than the success of the hunt; it was about relationships. He also loved golf and skeet shooting.

Kim was funny, had an amazing laugh, and loved life and all the little things in it. He was a prankster and a jokester. He’d have dreams from time to time that were significant and changed the course of his life.

He had many friends and loved to talk. He served on New Life Church’s security team for 5 years, a point of pride for him. He had many plans still to execute and conversations left unfinished.

Kim Allan Welsh died on Nov 24, 2023, a Friday afternoon, in the middle of packing out an elk in the beautiful Colorado high country.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Howard in 2023; and Jeanie in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; his four children; his ten grandchildren; his four sisters; extended family and many friends.
