Obituary of Fred Roberts Pitman

Fred Roberts Pitman, 95, left this earth to spend eternity with Jesus, his Savior, on November 14, 2023. 

Fred was born on November 6, 1928, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the youngest of nine children of James Basil Pitman and Lula Anna Pitman. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School, now Miller High School, in 1946. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for two years. 

On April 23, 1948, he married Fern Marie Olson, the love of his life. They were married for nearly 66 years. Fred and Fern moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1975 so he could attend Tennessee Temple Bible College, from which he graduated in May of 1978. In August of 1978, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he served as the Associate Pastor of Security Baptist Temple until 1980. 

After brief stays in Farson, Wyoming, and East Bend, North Carolina, they moved back to Colorado Springs in 1984, where he lived until his passing.  

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fern; and his youngest son, Dana Joe Pitman. 

He is survived by his sons, Ronnie Alan (Suzanne) Pitman of Richmond, VA, and Kenneth Lee (Chris) Pitman of Yoder, CO; and his daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Pitman. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Lindi Kay (Thomas) Dinn of Robstown, TX, Amy Christine (Joshua) Murray of Climax, NC, Lisa Ann (Chris) Muse of Robstown, TX, Keri Lynn (Jeremy) Bertsch of Ellicott, CO, Jonathan Lee (Melissa) Pitman of Big Flats, NY, Christy Marie (Jonathan) Diss of Shattuck, OK, and Ryan Daniel (Amelia) Pitman of Greeley, CO. Fred was also loved by twenty great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kait, Mikayla, Haley, Hannah, Connor, Elijah, Colin, Evie, Rorie, Emma, Abby, Rebekah, Lanie, Rebecca, Dylan, William, Lyla, Sophie, and Lillian. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ellicott Baptist Church, 24075 State Highway 94, Calhan, Colorado 80808. All contributions received will be sent to a publisher of the Bible.
