Trae Gilbert-DeGraffe

Obituary of Trae Gilbert-DeGraffe

Trae Gilbert-DeGraffe, 16, passed away on November 8, 2023 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He was born on August 24, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Krystal DeGraffe and Devin Gilbert.

Trae was actively attending Sand Creek High School, and worked at The Goodwill, doing donation intake and sorting.

Trae had a deep passion for cars, which he shared with his family. He was a car expert and could tell you anything about any car. He was particularly fond of Honda Civics and Ford Mustangs.

In his free time, Trae loved to ride and fix his dirt bike, go fishing, and camp with his grandpa. He also enjoyed playing frisbee golf with his father and younger brothers, and embarking on spontaneous adventures with his mom. Trae had an array of talents that included fixing things, creating music, making art, and doing photography.

He truly loved his younger brothers and kids in general; all the little kids would gravitate towards him. Trae loved to make people laugh and spend time with his loved ones, and these are the things that endeared him to everyone he met.

Trae’s kindness and infectious energy ensured that there was never a dull moment with him, and these are the memories that we will all cherish.

Trae is survived by  his brothers, Julean Heyns and Ace Heyns; mother, Krystal DeGraffe; father, Devin Gilbert; grandparents, Dennis DeGraffe, Sonia Prather, Angie Edwards, and Bob Edwards; great-grandmother, Wanda Heyns (oma); aunties, Laytifethia DeGraffe and Shannon Wells; and several cousins and other family members.
