Obituary of Lyle Joseph Barger

Lyle Joseph Barger was born on December 22, 1935 in Pueblo, Colorado to Howard and Teresa Barger. Lyle is the third oldest of four sons. He attended Pueblo Catholic High School in Pueblo, Colorado.

Lyle joined the United States Army in 1956, serving as a paratrooper until his Honorable Discharge in 1960. While in the Army and stationed in Germany, Lyle met Erika Euringer and they married on January 2, 1959 and moved back to the United States. There, they raised four children together, Marriane, Steven, Michael, and Kathryn.

During his life, Lyle worked as a steel worker, police officer, auto worker, coal miner, warehouseman, manufacturing drill-press operator, and a retail clerk. Lyles’ jobs moved the family from Colorado to California, back to Colorado, then to Wyoming and finally back to Colorado for good in the early 1970s. His final move was made from Paonia, Colorado to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1986.

Lyle and Erika were longtime parishioners of Holy Apostles Catholic Church.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard and Dwight; great-grandson, Nolan; and his wife, Erika.

He is survived by his youngest brother, Aaron; his four children; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Lyle was a devoted husband and family man. His interest and hobbies included camping, hunting, and fishing. Lyle and Erika were also accomplished taxidermists. He enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons watching the Denver Broncos and spending time with his grandchildren.
