Obituary of Janie Zeringue
On November 1, 2023, Janie passed into the arms of the angels. Wife, best friend, and love of my life, she preceded me, her husband, David Zeringue, to our heavenly home. I know she will be there to meet me when it comes my time. Until then, we will miss her smile and her way of making everybody feel special and loved. We miss you, Janie. May the Lord welcome you and bathe you in his loving light.
Janie, (never Louise) was born in New Orleans to the Alvin and Daisy Voigt and a big family of sisters: Linda Meyer, Carol Brunell, Janice Patty Grooms, the late Mary Gagliano; and brother, the late Bobby Alcorn. Janie grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Nichols High School in 1967. She met her husband, David Zeringue when she was in the 7th grade and they were together ever since. They married in 1969 and celebrated 54 years of marriage in February 2023.
With her husband, Janie raised her family, daughter Tonia Zeringue Loria and son David Zeringue Jr. and worked in the hospitality industry in New Orleans until she found herself dislocated to Colorado Springs following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. And while the move was unplanned, she soon grew to love the mountains almost as much as she loved the music, food, and culture of her hometown. And anyone who has seen her home knows how much Colorado inspired her love for all things bears! She was a big fan of Pepsi, a celebrated gift giver, particularly of amazing shoes, and enjoyed a second line during the Carnival season, right at home with her dear friends.
She was loving grandmother to Riley Loria, Eryn Loria, Amelie Zeringue, and Jaxon Zeringue, and was loved dearly by son-in-law Kevin Loria and daughter-in-law Marisa Canale Zeringue. She was also a doting pet mom to the late, ferocious cat Sazerach, and sweet newcomer Truffles.
Friends and family are invited to join for her Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Friday, November 17, 2023, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909 to celebrate her life and love that she inspired.
