Obituary of David Bert Vance
David Bert Vance was born in Pensacola, Florida on October 12, 1949, and he went to sleep in death on October 8, 2023 in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a long battle with alpha I antitrypsin deficiency.
Dave was the son of Sanders Bert Vance and Gloria June Wilson Vance. When he was young, his father was in the military, and he moved frequently. The family moved to Colorado in 1959, and Dave’s father retired to Salida, Colorado. There in 1966, Dave met his future wife, Stephanie. They were married June 7th, 1969. Dave and his wife moved to Palmer Lake, Colorado in 1984.
Dave worked for Lewis Palmer School District for 26 years. He was a cerebral kind of guy and enjoyed reading many nonfiction books about various topics including the universe and physics. Besides reading, Dave enjoyed backpacking, miniature building projects, and singing and playing the guitar. He was known for his wit and sense of humor, for his love of young people, and for his generosity, among many other things. He had many friends and family who loved him dearly.
On August 6, 1966, Dave was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Dallas, Texas. He loved the Bible and enjoyed sharing with others the wonderful hope that it gave him. He pondered deeply on the things he learned and applied Bible principles in his life. This enabled him to give loving and wise advice when needed and to live a life devoted to God.
Dave is survived by his wife of 54 years, Stephanie; daughter, Cheri Palmer; grandchildren, Aidan Palmer and Willow Kallaby; great-grandson, Wesley Kallaby; brother, Victor (Jan) Vance; sister, Melanie Vance; mother, June Reyes; aunt, Joyce Wilson; and nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Bert Vance.
