Emily Bailey

Obituary of Emily Ann Bailey

Our dear Emily Ann Bailey went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2023 at the age of 43.

Emily was the daughter of Bill and Jo Ellen Dozier of Falcon, Colorado. Emily married her beloved husband Tommy Bailey 14 years ago at the most wonderful wedding. They settled in Calhan, Colorado. Jolee Ann Bailey, their precious daughter and the light of Emily’s life, was born on May 11, 2011. Emily dedicated her life to her family.

In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter, Emily is survived by her brothers, Jeff (Nora) Dozier, Matt (Brenda) Dozier; her nieces, Miranda Dozier Minter, Brooke Dozier, and Amanda Dozier; her nephews, Kaleb Dozier and Curtis Dozier; her great-nephews and great-niece; her aunts; uncles; and her many cousins. She is also survived by her sister-in law Tarah Bailey; brother in-law Todd Bailey; and mother-in-law Tambre Bailey.

Even as a young child, Emily’s warmth, generosity, creativity, and playfulness were evident. These qualities grew each year. Emily had deep, fun filled, loving lifelong friendships that were very meaningful to her. Emily graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1998 and took classes at Red Rocks College. She was a strong athlete, playing competitive softball for 6 years. Emily patiently taught her younger cousins to do tricks on their grandparent’s trampoline, cheering them on, and helping them feel grown up and cared about. They wanted to be just like Emily, who was so kind, cool, and funny when they grew up.

As a mom, she spent many hours taking her daughter Jolee to tumbling, cheer, and competition meets. She loved everything about Jolee. Emily was the anchor of her family’s plumbing business for 15 years. She brought her intelligence, dedication, and leadership to her work. Emily worked with her mom and dad and was such a blessing to them.

Emily will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, empathy, resilience, and generously kind heart. She had the gift of compassion. Emily loved animals, often stopping her car on the side of the road to rescue a lost dog. She was part of several local community networks helping owners find missing pets and supporting community members in need.  When grocery shopping, if she noticed someone in front of her was short on money, Emily would step in and help pay for their groceries

Emily was all this and so much more. There is a line from a hymn that her late Grandma Marge loved, “And the soul felt its worth”. To be in Emily’s presence was to feel seen and valued, in other words, to feel your soul’s worth. Being around Emily was a joy.

It is hard to imagine a world without her. She was such a gift from God to all who knew and loved her. Emily left this world a better place.

We know she is with God, her late grandparents who adored her, her late father-in-law, and her other loved ones who have passed. May her memory always be a blessing to us all.
