Virginia Crook

Obituary of Virginia Rose Crook

Virginia Rose Crook died at home on September 25, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She passed surrounded by her loving daughter, Cathryn Collins, and son-in-law, Dennis Collins.

Virginia was born on August 8, 1927 in Sutherland, Nebraska to Harry Lee Sr. and Velma Joyce (Purdy) Coleman.

She grew up with her brother, Harry Lee Jr. (preceded in death), in the Sandhills of Nebraska. She would often tell stories of her childhood, one being of how Jr. would shield her from harsh weather while they would ride their horse to and from school.

When Virginia grew up she became a teacher and then a manager of McDonald drive-up bank in North Platte, Nebraska.

Faith has always been a pillar in the Crook family, raising all of their children in the church, sharing her love for God by playing organ and/or piano for church services for many years and teaching Sunday School which is where she met her future son-in-law, Dennis, when he was only 5 years of age. She gave him his first bible.

In 1945, she met Ronald Dean Crook (preceded in death) and while it wasn't love at first sight, they did end up living happily ever after with Dean passing away on their 65th anniversary. He was the love of her life and they had three children together; Rex (preceded in death), Mark (Becky) and Cathryn (Dennis).

Virginia and Dean went on to have loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Joshua and Jen (Zach and Lily); Ashley; son, Jordan (preceded in death); Katie; Cassie; Stephanie (Tony) and children; Jessica (John) and children. Other survivors include, brother-in-law, Gary (Rosa) Crook and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia lived a life that was full of faith, love, and beauty. She was caring, sweet, and would always bake copious amounts of goodies for the holidays. She filled her home with treasures and could play a great game of pinochle. She will be dearly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet her and even more so for those who had the privilege to love her.

Inurnment, 10:00AM, Monday, October 16, 2023, Ft. McPherson, Nebraska where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
