Obituary of Lydia Jaramillo

Lydia Jaramillo passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 

Lydia was born on August 13, 1940 to Antonio Torrez and Elvira Silva Torrez of Veguita NM. 

Lydia moved with her family from California to Colorado Springs in 1976, where she soon started her career in electronic manufacturing, she worked at Hewlett Packard and Phillips LMS until her retirement. She loved going out to lunch with her friends, hanging out with her family and eating BLTs. 

Lydia was creative and loved ceramics. In her California days she created some beautiful pieces and gifted them to her family. She used to sew clothes for her daughters as well as special items for her home. She was fiercely independent, quick-witted with an undertone of sarcasm. She learned how to make tortillas when she was a small girl and taught her niece and granddaughter how to make them. She was absolutely the best tortilla maker!

Lydia was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Pete O. Jaramillo.  

Lydia was one of eleven children and is survived by her brother, Ignacio Torres (Albq); her daughters, Theresa (David) Dixon, RoseMary Jaramillo, Dolores (Adam) Parrott; and grandchildren, Adam Maldonado, Tyrone Maldonado, Amanda Jaramillo, Anthony George; her great-grandson, Isaiah Hawkinson; as well as her step-grandchildren, Lisa Martinez, David Dixon Jr., Torashay Dixon, Dontay Dixon, Eve Parrott; her great-grandchildren, Teagan, Asaiah, Braelynn, Theo; many beloved nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones who called her grandma.

Rest now beautiful Lydia. You will be missed every minute of every day. Your light continues to shine bright and the love you shared continues to grow.
