Obituary of Janet Darlene Davis Clouse

Janet Darlene Davis Clouse passed away on September 12, 2023 at the age of 84. 

She was born March 2, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Roland and Loretta Davis, the oldest of five children. 

The family moved often but Janet spent most of her childhood living on the West side of Colorado Springs. As a young girl she loved walking and climbing the rocks in the Garden of the Gods. 

In 1958, Janet married Donald Eugene Clouse and became a young military wife. She traveled with her husband to bases in Texas, France, and Colorado. Her family grew to include three children: Gail, Steven, and Richard. 

Janet loved to sew and garden. Her love of sewing expanded to include refurbishing and repurposing discarded or salvaged items, giving them a new life and purpose. 

Several years after the death of her first husband, she met and married Bill Haley. The two of them discovered a love of square dancing and she spent many hours designing and making intricate square-dancing outfits. 

Janet was the owner of Use Again Building Materials, and she enjoyed the daily contacts with her customers. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and treasured spending time with her friends from her junior high school days.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clouse; son, Steven Clouse; daughter, Gail Lewis Szylonyinka; and brother, Richard Davis.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Karen) Clouse; grandchildren, Ry Shorr, Matthew Lewis, and Sarah Lewis; brothers, Roy (Bernice) Davis and Roland (Faith) Davis; sister, Donna (Donald) Gress; and son-in-law, Bill Szylonyinka.

Visitation, 3:00PM - 6:00PM, Saturday, September 23, 2023, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909. 

Inurnment will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral Columbarium on a later date.
