Obituary of James Charles Snare Sr.
James “Jim” Charles Snare, Sr. Of Fountain, Colorado was born to C.M. “Max” and Loree (Smith) Snare June 10th, 1943, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Jim attended the Pinewood School in Teller County, and Cripple Creek-Victor School District. Later, he attended Pueblo Community College, Colorado State University, and the University of Mississippi (OL Miss).
Jim was wed to Patricia Boone-Snare on August 1, 1964, in Canon City, Colorado. This union produced two sons, James “J.C.” C. Snare, Jr. and Shane C. Snare. Jim was employed at Colorado Springs School District 11 for over 31 years, educating at Washington Irving Junior High School, Palmer, and Wasson High Schools. He worked in his mother’s real-estate business Snare Realty for several years before acquiring it from her and becoming managing broker before retiring in 2021. Jim also was co-owner and operator at J Bar L Farms for many years. Jim was active in the Fountain Valley and was a passionate supporter of the Fountain Chamber of Commerce serving a term as Chamber President and coordinated the Fountain Fall Festival and Parade for several years.
Jim is survived by his second wife, Karla Franklin-Fisk; Eldest son J.C., and Wife, Cynthia of Fountain, Colorado; Granddaughter, Cassandra Christine Snare Fountain, Colorado; Grandsons, James “Jimmy” Charles Snare, III (Amanda Morris) Fountain, Colorado, Casey Shance (Audrey) Snare of Williston, North Dakota, and Wyatt Blake Snare (Hannah) of Ogden, Utah; Great Grandsons, James Charles Snare, IV of Fountain, Colorado, and Shane Christopher Snare of Williston, North Dakota; Brothers, Max S Snare (Shirley) of Craig, Colorado, and Bill Snare (Ruth) or Ramah, Colorado; Step great grand-daughter, Lanie Belk of Fountain, Colorado. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.
Jim was Proceeded in death by his Wife, Patricia Boone-Snare; his son, Shane C. Snare; Sisters, Nancy Horst and Jane Wilson; Great-grandson, Henry Brooks Snare.
Jim possessed a generous soul and supported local schools, events, churches, individuals, and civic organizations. Jim cherished time with family and friends, traveling, hunting, fishing, rock hounding, staying busy, working hard, and laughing.
