Obituary of Marilyn Mae Schouten Metz
Marilyn Mae Schouten Metz passed away at home on September 2, 2023.
Marilyn was born on May 9, 1948 in Hustisford, Wisconsin. She was 75 years old when she passed away.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jan-Albert Metz; three daughters, Tricia (Tom) Chandler, Heidi Metz, and Jodi (Daniel) Schubert; two grandchildren, Tristan Chandler and Courtney Butler; one great-grandchild, Scarlet Butler; and one sister, Diana Zastrow.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; her mother, Norma Justmann Schouten; her father, John Schouten; and her younger sister, Joan Schouten.
Marilyn and Jan were married on April 26, 1969.
Marilyn ran a Daycare center in her home for 25 years here in Colorado Springs. She then worked in the childcare center at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She worked for Home Instead helping older adults. She helped with the Stephen ministry at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and helped with their food pantry as well.
Marilyn taught Sunday School at Salem Lutheran Church for many years when her girls were younger.
Marilyn and Jan were avid travelers. They visited Germany, Holland, Cancun, and many places within the United States. One of her favorite things were lighthouses, and they visited many over the years.
She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many.
