Obituary of Tamika LaTonya Manning
Tamika L. Manning was born on January 15,1978 in Kansas City, MO to the union of Kathlyn and Oliver Brown Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO. She would often share her love for the Lord by texting prayers, sharing gospel songs, or inspiring stories she came across. Tamika received her education through Kansas City Public Schools. Shortly after, she began a career in nursing later transitioning to working for companies like Time Warner, T-Mobile and WOW. Just before moving to Colorado she began a career with Sprint but found her calling with Progressive Insurance. Throughout her time there working various positions, she excelled in each. Tamika enjoyed her work there so much that she eventually planned to retire.
Tamika found true love when she reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, Carl Manning. They later solidified their union in marriage on December 28th, 2012, seamlessly joining their families together. Above all, she valued her family and cherished every moment they spent together. Tamika loved the Kansas City Chiefs and was a fan through and through. Although she lived in Colorado she represented KC to the fullest. "Let's Go Chiefs". She wrote poetry that would speak to your heart, it was almost as if she could see through the front window of your home. She had a great appreciation for artwork and began collecting unique pieces that speak as loud as her poetry did. She made many friends throughout her journey and had a unique gift of making you smile even when you didn't want to. People were easily drawn to her because she always took time to listen to your stories while sharing some of her own. No matter the situation, she left you with a smile, encouraging words, and a positive outlook on life. Tamika was the foundation of what we call "Family". She was the glue holding us ALL together. Because of her, many of us truly know what unconditional love feels like.
The morning of August 22nd, 2023, Tamika was called home to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oliver Brown Sr; brother Michael Brown and mother-in-love Sandra Manning.
