Obituary of Erling Nels Theodore Schultz
Erling Schultz, 91, went to be with the Lord in Colorado Springs, Colorado on August 21, 2023.
Erling was born in North Dakota to Holger and Carrie Schultz. He grew up on the family farm near Flaxton. He graduated from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska and later received his master’s degree.
Erling met the love of this life, Dorothy Willmert at Dana College. They were married 64 years.
Erling was head of the science department at Arbor Heights Junior High until his retirement.
Erling loved his family, and he and Dorothy were devoted members of the Lutheran Church. They enjoyed international travel and many cruises. After retiring, they lived full time in their RV, spending summers in Gunnison, Colorado while wintering in Casa Grande, Arizona, ultimately living in Casa Grande year-round. They relocated to Colorado Springs to be closer to family.
Erling also was an avid fisherman, and this passion was passed on to several in the family. Grandchildren fondly remember many science lessons given in the boat.
He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy; sister, Alice Layman; and twin brother, Ervin Schultz.
Erling is survived by brothers, Myril (Iva) and Holger (Cheryl) Schultz; and sisters, Margaret Wiges and Dottie (Norm) Bock; daughter, Deborah (Terry) DeBauche of Bloomfield New Mexico; son, Paul (Janet) Schultz of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Spencer (Hanna) DeBauche, Ethan (Rachel) DeBauche, Adrienne DeBauche (Carley), Anna (Josh) Cole, Leah Schultz, and Hal Schultz; and three great-granddaughters.
In remembrance of Erling’s life, the family asks that any donations be made to your favorite charity.
