Obituary of Melva (McAllister) Moore

Melva (McAllister) Moore, beloved Mother, Sister, Auntie, and friend, passed away on Friday, August 11th, 2023 in her hometown of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
 
Melva’s life was marked by compassion and a love for others. She earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and pursued a career in Human Services as a Social Worker; a testament to her commitment to caring for others. After college, she met and married her husband, Michael Moore Sr., with whom she made a loving home until his passing.
 
As a child, Melva was a self-described bookworm. Her siblings recall her seemingly always with a book in hand, or hiding away in the family washroom to steal a moment to finish her latest novel. As an adult, her love of knowledge persisted. Her family remembers her as a Scrabble master and unbeatable at Jeopardy! She was creative and artistic. There was a time when you could not walk into her house without the rhythmic sound of her beating the Djembe drum pouring throughout the home. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie McAllister and Marilyn McAllister (Kolb); and her husband Michael Moore, Sr. 

She is survived by her children, Michael Moore, Jr. and Marlesa Moore; her siblings Mable Elgaali, Barbara Smith, Charlie McAllister Jr., Renee McPherson, and her partner, Frederick Richardson. She is also survived by her loving Nephews, Nieces, extended family, and a long-awaited granddaughter whom she will meet from above. 

Melva's memory lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her laugh was sudden and infectious, and her smile was warm and welcoming. She leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and genuine kindness.

As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life that she lived and the indelible mark that she leaves on the hearts of those who love her.
She loved fiercely, and she was greatly loved in return.
