Obituary of Keith Robert Hanel Jr.

Keith Robert Hanel Jr, age 62, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on August 5, 2023 while surrounded by his wife, daughter, grandchildren and some of his A & H family.

Keith was born on September 17, 1960 to Keith Robert Hanel Sr. and Ella Kay Jenkins in St Claire City, Michigan. After being raised in Michigan by many family members, he moved to Colorado where he spent most of his adult life.

Keith was an HVAC contractor and business owner of A&H Mechanical, Inc. He thought of his business partner, Steve Akers, and his employees as a second family, and took great pride in the business and a job done right. He had a passion for providing for his family, helping others, doing projects around the house and cabin, and cooking for his family and friends. Keith, also known by friends and family as “Dr. Walleye”, was an avid life-long fisherman that later came to love hunting as well.  It has been said, “He was loved by many and feared by fish & big game”. Keith was adored and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Keith is survived by his wife, Wendy K. Fox; sisters, LouAnn Donovan, Peg Dresch, Susan Templeton, and Sally Hayes; brother, Alan Hanel; daughter, Leslie Branin; step-children, Stephen Hendersen, Brady Fox, Jamie Fox, and Miranda Fox; grandchildren, Samantha Hanel, Carter Snelling-Hanel, and Jakob Snelling; and great-grandson, Abel Hanel.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William Dempster Goslin and Nelda Goslin; paternal grandparents, Peter and Elsie Hanel; parents, Keith Robert Hanel Sr. and Ella Kay Jenkins; uncle, William Dempster Goslin II; brother, Scott Hanel; and daughter, Michelle “Shelley” Lynn Hanel.
