Obituary of Michael J. Verble
Mike was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on December 17, 1935. He was raised in Western Kansas and graduated from Goodland High School in 1953. He attended Bradley University from 1954 to 1956, majoring in Business and Jewelry. He served in the United States Air Force, from 1956 to 1959 as an aerial photographer.
On April 21, 1956, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Cora "Corky". They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1959. Over the years, Mike was a jewelry store manager, stockbroker, and co-owner of several businesses.
Mike has been very active in the community. He was affiliated with the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo for thirty-five years. He joined the Pikes Peak Club in 1968, was a member of the Soil Savers since 1967, and also belonged to the Broadmoor Golf Club.
Survivors include son, Jeff (Christy) Verble of Spokane, Washington; daughter, Mickey (Joe) Knowles of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, David (Maria) Verble of Montrose, Colorado; daughter, Laura (Bob) Stogner of Sebastian, Florida; twelve grandchildren, Ben, Becky, Elizabeth, Josh, Nate, Natalie, Cierra, Brianna, Miranda, Brandon, Natasha, and Melanie; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mike’s health was failing since his stroke two and a half years ago. He was 87.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
