Obituary of Frank Wade Mountz

Wade Mountz passed away July 29, 2023 at 76 years of age.

Born in Wellington, Kansas, he moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1985 and loved the town.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte; son Scott (Miranda); grandson Scotty; step-daughter Susan; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; his sisters Kathy (Scott) Unruh, Jan (Jim) Pringle; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Wade’s love for the outdoors started early on in his youth when he became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from The New Mexico Military Institute where he received an Associates of Arts Degree. He continued his education at Wichita State University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Wade proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Army. He was a long standing member of the Elks club for 56 years and was twice appointed as the Exalted Ruler. He was the Superintendent of the Pikes Peak Division of model trains, a member of the Colorado Springs Breakfast Club, Chairman of Elks 309 Bingo committee, and spent numerous hours volunteering his time in many other clubs.

He was an outdoorsman, avid camper, and loved touring ghost towns, hiking and exploring, especially with his beloved dog Blue. He also had a deep love for Gunnison, Colorado, where he fondly remembers spending many summers of his youth. He loved country music, old westerns, suffering through some Broncos seasons, but most of all, spending time with his family.

Wade’s sense of humor, wit, and charisma will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
