Obituary of Leah Ranae Heldman

Leah Ranae (Walters) Heldman, 43, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023 with her sister and brother-in-law by her side.

Leah was born on July 3, 1980, in Tucson, Arizona to Terry Walters and Denise (Siebert) Walters. Joining her sister, Danae, Leah made this family of four complete. The family relocated to Moneta, Virginia in the early 1980s. Leah would often reminisce about life in Virginia. She loved the fireflies, trees, and the summers swimming in the water.

In 1988 Terry, Denise, and the girls moved to Ulysses, Kansas, where they lived near family until Terry passed away in 1989. Denise, Danae, and Leah relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2000 for a fresh start. Leah lived in the Denver-metro area most of her adult life, before relocating back to Colorado Springs in 2022 to be near her sister.

Leah was incredibly creative and loved music and the arts. She held a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute and practiced many years as a graphic and website designer.

She also loved fitness with a fierce passion, and had a vision to help people live happier and healthier lives. This vision turned into a reality when she became a Barre fitness instructor. She absolutely loved helping others to get or stay in shape — it was one of her greatest joys.

Leah loved to travel, and explored many amazing locations with her former husband, Jason Heldman, who she married in 2007.

She valued friendship, love, and connection. Harmony and inner peace were important to her as well, and she worked hard to create this in her life. She was funny, kind, caring, and she loved her family, friends, and the water.

Leah was the kind of person you could count on to always be supportive and enthusiastic. She was loyal, hardworking, reliable, so fun to be around, and just a genuinely nice person. She always made an impression in the lives she touched, sometimes as a close friend, and sometimes just with her beautiful smile and that sparkle in her eye.

During her short life, Leah touched the lives of so many and left a footprint on their hearts. She believed that love only grows by sharing, and that you can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Denise; and her grandparents, Ed and Joyce Smith.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Danae and Steve Pollard; her former husband, Jason Heldman; her nephew, Trenten Walters; her grandparents, Lavon and Jeannice Walters; and countless family members and friends who loved her.
