Obituary of Aaron Lee Hayward
Our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and uncle went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 21, 2023 with his family by his side.
Born Aaron Lee Hayward in Avon, South Dakota on February 2, 1941 to Harold and Maude Hayward, he was one of 14 children.
Aaron married Marie Lorenz on September 17, 1960. Three children blessed their marriage: Kenny (Sue) Hayward, Priscilla (Todd) Wittrock and Annette (Arnold) Brickbealer. Aaron had seven grandchildren: Trisha (Steven), Amber, Kara (Kyle), Nathan, Andrew (Alyson), Johnathan, and Katelyn. He had three great-grandchildren: Maverick, Lillian, and Abigail.
Aaron is also survived by his brother Dennis (Mary); sister Peggy Leisy; brothers-in-law Harry (Esther) Leeper and Martin (Jeanie) Leeper; sisters-in-law Delora (Bob) Suiter and Melvina Baumgarten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Aaron is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jim, Don and Clarence; and sisters June, Opal, Bettie, Mary, Shirley, Patsy, Elva and Charlene.
Aaron grew up in Avon, South Dakota. After high school graduation, he attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Miltonvale, Kansas. The next summer, while working in Rapid City, South Dakota, Aaron met the love of his life, Marie, and they married the following September. They lived in Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. In June 1977 they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado so Aaron could attend Nazarene Bible College.
While in college, Aaron began to work as a custodian at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Colorado Springs. He would continue to work there for over 20 years.
Aaron was a proud grandpa and great-grandpa who enjoyed being with family. He was deeply loved and will be missed every day. He leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue for generations.
