Richard Cromwell

Obituary of Richard Wade Cromwell

Born July 5, 1948 in Denver, Colorado to Forest Wade Cromwell and Helen Bernice Homrighausen, Richard lived his whole life in Colorado.

In 1964, Richard’s family moved to Colorado Springs, where Richard attended and graduated from Palmer High School in 1967. That same year, he married Jeanne Aelmore and became a father to her three young sons.

In 1968, the Cromwell family moved to Woodland Park. This family consisted of Richard’s mother, father, sister, his wife Jeanne and their son Philip, along with his three step-sons Chuck, Tim and Larry. There, Richard and his dad had a mechanic shop and later started an excavation business, which was his passion.    From 1969 to 1995, Richard and the family owned and operated Cromwell’s Excavation and Cromwell’s Fuel and Tire in Woodland Park.

In 1995, desiring a change of location, Richard and his family moved to the Eastern edge of Colorado Springs where he continued to run his excavation business.

In 2009, after several years of separation from Jeanne, Richard met and later married Karla Spinelli. They enjoyed traveling and time with family until her passing in 2019.

Over the past twenty years, Richard not only ran the excavation business, he and his sons also became Licensed Water/Waste Water Operators, handling several systems in El Paso and Teller Counties. Both of these businesses will continue to be operated by his sons.
