Obituary of Sam Yet Pon Lee

Sam Yet Pon Lee of Colorado Springs, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2023 at the age of 85.

He was born on March 17, 1937 in Canton, China. He met his wife, Wai Fong Ma, in 1956 and they were married in 1959 in Hong Kong. He immigrated to the United States in 1975 with his young family, and lived in New York City, New York for forty-one years. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in December 2016.

Sam lived a courageous and determined life. He survived the harsh conditions of Japanese-occupied China during World War II. His family lost everything to the Communists which forced him to flee to Hong Kong. He immigrated to the United States with virtually nothing of value except the determination to build a new life for his family. With just a high school level education and the disadvantage of not being able to speak or write much English, he could only perform low-income manual labor in the crucible of New York City, New York. Despite all these challenges, Sam forged ahead undeterred. He worked tirelessly and managed to provide for all of his family's needs, and made sure his children obtained higher education! He survived cancer at the age of 58, and battled disability as the result of a stroke for the last twety-seven years of his life. His faith in God sustained him and raised him above life's adversities. He was a fighter and a winner.

Sam is survived by his amazing wife, Wai Fong; son, Jayson (Esther); daughter, Susan (Bill) Ayrault; four grandchildren, David Ayrault, Jeremy Ayrault, Jordan Lee, and Carissa Lee.
