Betty Jones

Obituary of Betty Ann Jones

Betty Ann (Harrison) Jones was born on April 18, 1938. She passed on February 12, 2023, surrounded by family.

The daughter of David and Beulah Harrison, and sister to Dave and Nina, Betty spent her early years in Quanah, Texas, where she developed lifelong friendships. When the Harrison family moved to Eads, Colorado in 1954, she met new friends and her future husband, Loy Jones - who said to a friend the first time he saw her, “I am going to marry her one day”.

After graduating high school, she attended the University of Colorado, Boulder where she was active in many organizations and graduated with a degree in business in 1960.

She married Loy Jones on August 14, 1960. They had two children, Lisa and Craig, whom she loved with all her heart. In 1968, the family settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Her passion for sewing led her to a job at Stretch & Sew, where she discovered her talent for teaching and became a popular instructor. In 1983, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (where she had been a member for many years) needed a church secretary. Betty took on this role, which she loved, and served for ten years.

Betty was passionate about her many hobbies, a few of these were quilting, tatting, and collecting teddy bears. She loved her pet beagles; her favorite was Daisy who was always by her side. She also loved camping and traveling with Loy, enjoying many trips after he retired.

All those fortunate to know Betty knew she was caring, with a sense of humor. She was a loving, gracious sister, aunt, mother, wife, and friend to all.

Betty will truly be missed and will remain in our memories and hearts, living on in spirit with endearing love.

A private memorial service will be held for family and friends.

A mother's love cannot be measured, such a treasure
One that cares and loves with passion, a gift to all, no expectation
Love lives on and grows within, memories remaining, never fading
While a presence is lost, the spirit guides and finds new paths
Teaching us love for all that surrounds, love ever last
