Glen Chambers

Obituary of Glen Templar Chambers

Glen Chambers was born in Adelaide, South Australia to Cyril and Muriel Chambers. He apprenticed to his father to learn the business of watch and clock repair, which remained his passion throughout his life.

While on a world tour, he met the love of his life, Joan Vostrez, in Berkeley, California. After an eight week courtship, they were engaged in New York at Rockefeller Center where Joan promised to meet him in Australia six months later. She boarded a ship in 1960, arriving in Adelaide a few months before their wedding at Unley Park Baptist Church on February 25, 1961. Glen emigrated to the United States in 1969 and soon finished his B.A. at Boise Bible College and went on to attend American Baptist Seminary of the West (now Berkeley School of Theology).

He served in the choir at Ustick Baptist Church, and Covenant Presbyterian Church, and in many other teaching roles. Throughout his life he was a humble leader who was always growing in his faith. In 2013, Glen and Jo moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, finding simple joy in reading and spending time with family.

Glen is survived by his wife, Jo; son, Kim Chambers; and daughter, Lynn Phillips; as well as three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
