Obituary of Donna Faye Kelly

Donna (Thomas) Kelly, passed peacefully at the age of 96 on January 26, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Donna was born in Topeka, Kansas to Rose and Chester Kennedy. She graduated from Topeka High School. She tap-danced with the Sante Fe Band, and performed with the Ray Swain Dancers in Topeka, Kansas. She was cited as one of the city's best dancers. She danced for veterans at the VA Hospital and USO shows during WWII.

On November 14, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Merle Thomas, who preceded her in death. They had six children, Steve Thomas, Sandra Blackwell (deceased), Michael Thomas, Edward Thomas (deceased), Brenda Roy, and Scott Thomas (deceased). She was also blessed with twelve grandchildren, and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

Donna was a widower when she married Verle Kelly, Sr. (deceased) of Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 14, 1975.  They were married thirty-seven years and shared many happy times camping in their motorhome, fishing, traveling, and celebrating many holidays and events with family and friends. They were also members of the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club and enjoyed dancing and spending time with their large group of square dance friends.

Donna always had an optimistic outlook on life. She took pride in taking care of her family and making sure everyone around her was having a good time.  She loved the Lord and spent time in Bible study over the years. She taught us to love the Lord, be thankful, believe in the power of prayer, follow the Golden Rule, and always remember the good times.

Her loving care and amazing smile are unforgettable and will be missed.
