Justin Hulsey

Obituary of Justin Scott Hulsey

On January 26, 2023 Justin Scott Hulsey succumbed to his very brief battle with glioblastoma, taking his last breath a mere twenty-one days after receiving his diagnosis. He never had the chance to put up a fight, but we all know he wasn’t going to back down.

Justin was born on December 16, 1987 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida to his loving and devoted mother, Patricia Gill. He spent his childhood in Florida and his teenage years living in California. After graduating from Santa Monica High School in 2006, he relocated back to Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Upon his return to Florida, Justin began following his true passion for art and music by playing in a band with his half-brother, John, and embarking into a career as a tattoo artist.

Justin always did everything with a fine attention to detail and a drive that was intoxicating to others. Throughout the next ten years, Justin developed his own style and became a respected artist in the tattoo community. In 2017, his career and family moved him to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he eventually fulfilled his dream of owning his own tattoo shop. Above all things in Justin’s life, being a father and step-father was by far his most proud achievement. His dedication to his children was second to none. There are no words to describe the giant hole left in the hearts of so many from his passing. His goofball nature, and infectious personality left a mark on everyone that was so lucky to have spent time with him. Justin will be tremendously missed. Moving forward our days will have a little less sunshine, a little less handsome, and a little less goofy in them, however, Justin is unforgettable and will live on and be loved forever through the wonderful memories that he left us with.

Justin is preceded in death by his Mimi (with whom he could do no wrong), Janet Cyr Fuller; and his cousin, Tyler Wages.

He is survived by his mother, Patti Gill; half-brother, John Hulsey Jr.; son, Jaxom Hulsey; his two step-children that he considered his own from a previous marriage, Liliana Gabel, and Finral Carter; his current fiancée, Megan Malewit, and her young son Sigurd (both of whom he loved dearly and was building a beautiful life with); Paw Paw Robert Eugene Fuller; aunt, Denise Wages; uncles, Steve Fuller, and Jason Wages; and cousin Chase (Megan) Wages and their son Hudson. Not to be forgotten are the many “brothers” and friends that he acquired over the years, many of which are considered family.

A small private ceremony will be held solely for the children's benefit, and a celebration of life announcement will be coming soon to include all that would like to attend.
