Obituary of Norma Jean Simpson-Hughes

Norma Jean Simpson went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 25, 2022. She was a dedicated mother and lifelong learner, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She graduated from Sul Ross University with a degree in interdisciplinary studies and went on to share her love of mathematics with her students as a junior high school teacher. To best capture her kind and generous spirit, we would like to include a Bible verse she particularly enjoyed: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you" Ephesians 4:32. She was preceded in death by her mother, Luella; husband, Doc; and granddaughter, Lauren. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, John; daughters, Stephanie, Najla, and Crystal; granddaughters, Katherine, Scarlett, Dimitra, Jaclynn, and Kasey; and sibling, Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Norma's name to a local church. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Christie for her guidance, encouragement, and empathy during this difficult time. A gathering of those who wish to celebrate Norma's life will be planned for a later date.
