Obituary of Karl K. Knapp

Karl K. Knapp passed away on December 26, 2022, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Karl was born on December 25, 1966 in Gillette, Wyoming. Karl was the son of Karen Cavner and Lynn Knapp, and stepson to Agnes "Midge" Knapp. Karl attended middle school, high school and college in Oklahoma, and was a 1990 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma. Karl spent much of his time in Cody, Wyoming and always considered it home. Karl served in the United States Marine Corps from October 3, 1993 to July 31, 2017, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-four years of faithful service. Karl served multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Karl enjoyed shooting on the gun range and teaching others gun safety, and was an excellent spotter. Karl loved sports of all kinds and participated in track, football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. Karl was an avid league bowler throughout his adult life, bowling in each city he was ever stationed with the Marine Corp. Karl has always loved dogs and was an avid foster, advocate, and friend to any animal in need. Karl kept active by fostering and also personally provided rescue transport for many dogs, supporting multiple 501c3 nonprofit rescues. Karl is survived by his wife, Crystal Clark-Knapp; his son, Kyle Knapp; his daughter, Amanda Knapp; his father, Lynn Knapp; and his birth mother, Jackie Wooding, and her sister Nicole Wooding.
