Obituary of Savanita "Sadie" Valdez Trujillo
It is with gratitude that we express our appreciation for a lovely woman who played significant roles in each of our lives.
Savanita "Sadie" Valdez Trujillo was the first of eight children born on September 12, 1940 to Pacifico Valdez and Cecilia Mestas.
Sadie and her husband, Julian Trujillo, raised five boys, Gabriel Valdez, Steven Trujillo, Julian Trujillo Jr., Patrick Trujillo, and Carlos Trujillo, and were blessed with three beautiful granddaughters, Cheyenne, Aspen, and Jade Trujillo.
15-year-old Savanita was thrust into adulthood by the need to raise her younger siblings, Lydia (Lemke) Valdez, Paul Valdez, Rudy Valdez, Dave Valdez, Leroy Valdez, and Sylvia (Robinson) Valdez, with the help of her 14-year-old brother, Philip Valdez, due to the illness of their father and the untimely death of their mother.
Savanita was a lover of music and had a lovely singing voice. She displayed with pride in her home a massive collection of family photographs as well as an extensive selection of music. All were fortunate to have Savanita as the matriarch of the Valdez family. The Trujillo and Valdez families reaffirm their sorrow for her departure, while acknowledging her devotion as the mother she was to all our families. We will cherish her forever in our hearts.
