Obituary of Robert Merle Krause

Robert “Bob” Krause, age 84, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on January 7, 2023 at Saint Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs.

 

Robert was born in Boulder, Colorado on February 19, 1938 to Ralph and Agnes (Gill) Krause.

 

Robert was married to Joanne Snow in 1957. Four children were born to this union: Elizabeth, Darren, John, and Sarah. In 1977, he married Barbara Bard. Barbara has three children, Eric, Lori, and Kevin. In 2013, he married Janice Brookshier. Janice had eight children, Steve, Lori, Karla, Kevin, Austin, Shawn, Jennifer, and Michelle.

 

Robert was a lineman for forty-five years in Colorado, Kansas, Arizona, and several other states. After retiring from Salt River Project in Phoenix, Arizona, he moved to Trinidad, Colorado. He loved his work and would point out lines he had worked on when traveling. 

 

Robert was funny, goofy, easy-going, lighthearted, and could talk to anyone. He never met a stranger. He loved a good joke. Everyone he met loved him.

 

Robert enjoyed doing woodworking and built several houses. He was a very good cook. He enjoyed boating, golf, bowling, hunting, fishing, traveling, and just going for rides. A couple years ago, he got to take a trip to South Dakota to see “The Heads” as he called Mount Rushmore. The last thirteen years, he enjoyed his yearly trips to Texas to Martins Christian Jubilee and Branson. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

 

Robert was a born again Christian getting saved at a Billy Graham Crusade. He loved the Lord with all of his heart. He helped in the building of Prairie Bible Church in Trinidad, Colorado. He was a major part in the add-on construction of Amazing Grace Church in Englewood, Colorado> He was attending Church on the Ranch in Colorado Springs at the time of his passing.

 

He is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, John of Kansas City, Kansas, and Eric (Nancy) Bard of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; daughters, Sarah (Scott) Hagan of Brighton, Colorado, Lori (Warren) Austin of Eldorado, Oklahoma; stepsons, Steve (Kathleen) Brookshier of St. Louis, Missouri; Kevin Brookshier of Keensburg, Colorado, Austin (Monica) Wiggins of Lakewood, Colorado, Shawn (Stephanie) Wiggins of Lakewood, Colorado; stepdaughters, Lori (Sam) Gonzales of Pueblo, Colorado, Karla (Mike) Mackey of Lexington, Ohio, Jennifer (Duff) Wiescamp of Eckert, Colorado, Michelle (Harold) Wiggins of Golden, Colorado; sister, Saundra (Ryan) of Springville, Utah; brother, Richard Krause of Commerce City, Colorado; eight grandchildren; twenty step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; sons, Darren, and Kevin Krause; brother, Ralph Krause; sister, Loretta Krause; son-in-law, Jim Rykhus; grandson, Christian Hagan; nephews, John Pruter, and Hunter Krause; and three step-grandsons.

 

His daughter, Elizabeth Rykhus, passed away two days after his passing.
