Obituary of John Myron Newberg

John Myron NewbergMarch 4, 1931 - April 20, 2010John M. Newberg passed away on April 20, 2010 as a result of complications from diabetes. John was born in Onawa, Iowa in 1931, grew up in Des Moines, Iowa where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and from Drake University in 1954. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict during 1951 and 1952. He married Helen Moore April 17, 1954 and celebrated 56 years of marriage before his death.John passed the CPA exam in 1959 and during his career spent many years working for CPA firms and Publicly held companies in Des Moines, Lincoln NE, Omaha NE and Sioux City, IA and retired from Denman & Company LLP in 1996 and opened his own accounting service at that time. He served on numerous civic organizations including the National Association of Accountants, Sertoma and Rotary. He was an avid golfer for most of his life. John moved to Colorado Springs in 2008 to be nearer his grandchildren. He marveled everyday at the beauty of Pikes Peak.John is survived by his loving wife Helen: three sons and their spouses, Ran & Kathy of Sioux City IA, Brian & Pam of Colorado Springs CO, and Chuck & Stacie of Rock Springs WY; five grandsons Zachary, Josiah, and Caleb of Colorado, Parker and Riley of Wyoming; and a granddaughter Tami of Colorado; a brother Bob, a sister Flo, all of Des Moines' area. He was preceded in death by a son, John M. Jr, a sister Hattie, and his parents Carl and Clara Newberg.Private family services will be held at a later date.
