Obituary of Whitney LaNet Jewel

Whitney LaNet JewelWhitney was born to Tom and Keri in Washington DC, on September 20, 1988. She was the oldest of 4 children. She is survived by her parents, sister Lauren, brother Thomas, and sister Merritt.Although Whitney's life on this earth has been cut short, she led a very full life. From her earliest years she traveled and always loved the beach. Her favorite place in the world was the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. She would always say that she was going to live there one day. Whitney's passion was children. She loved caring for them. She loved being around them. To that end, she was pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education, and wanted to be a teacher.Whitney graduated from Homestead HS in Ft. Wayne, IN. She joined the US Army in Indiana, but was medically discharged 10 months later. She was married for a little more than a year to Matthew Downing, but the marriage was not meant to be and they were divorced. She spent a year in the Job Corp in Clearfield, UT and graduated as a machinist.Whitney was always a surprise and kept everyone around her on their toes. You never knew what she was going to do next. She struggled a lot with her feelings about herself from the time she was 12, but she was a pure romantic. She was in love with being in love and always knew that tomorrow was going to bring a better day.We know she is happier now then she has been for the last 10 years and our pain is that we will not enjoy her company again until the life after this one.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909 Events Visitation Tuesday, August 3, 2010 2:00PM Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 8610 Scarborough Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80920 Phone: 719-328-1793 Service Tuesday, August 3, 2010 4:00PM Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 8610 Scarborough Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80920 Phone: 719-328-1793
