Obituary of Shirley Johnette McFarland
Shirley Johnette Bauer McFarlandOctober 3, 1927 – July 27, 2010Shirley Johnette Bauer McFarland was born in Alliance, Nebraska on October 3, 1927, grew up in Healdsburg, California, where she graduated from Healdsburg High School in 1945 and attended business college. She came to Colorado Springs in 1946 at the age of 19. She met the love of her life, Wayne McFarland at the First United Methodist Youth Group. They married in 1948. Shirley and Wayne were proud owners of Payton Studio portrait studio for 40 years. She was the president of their Sunday school class for 7 years at the First United Methodist Church. With many helping hands, they were integral in building the John Wesley Ranch Chapel for the FUMC. She loved to play cards with friends, walk, and spend time with her family. Most of all, she loved just having the company of her husband Wayne, and always put up with his endearing sense of humor. She was an inspiration to many and will be dearly missed by all. Shirley is survived by her husband Wayne McFarland, son Steve McFarland and his wife Kathy and children Michelle and Heather, daughter Cindi Blessing and her husband Greg and children Cassidy and Cody, son Tim McFarland and his wife Patti and children Trevor and Brett, and their youngest daughter Jenifer Lesan and her husband Rick and children Zach and Rachel. She also is survived by 5 great grandchildren: Caleb, Daniel, Gabriel, Jeremiah and Hailey. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 2 at 2:00PM at the First United Methodist Church 420 N. Nevada Avenue.
