Obituary of Ruth Evelyn Jencks
Ruth Evelyn JencksSeptember 19, 1920 – July 31, 2010Ruth Evelyn (Palser) Jencks was born September 19, 1920 at Big Springs, Nebraska to George and Mary (Cummins) Palser. She was the second daughter in a family of five boys and four girls and passed into her heavenly home on July 31, 2010. She graduated from the Big Springs, High School in 1938 and from Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, TX in 1942.On October 8, 1943 she was united in marriage to Farrel Edgar Jencks. They were blessed with four children Harvey Richard Jencks, Kathleen Marie Beggs, Esther Louise Dietrich, and George Farrel Jencks. Her children further blessed her with eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Farrel and Ruth resided on the George Palser farm until 1960 when they moved to Bassett, Nebraska and entered the nursing home field with their brother-in-law, Charles Turner. They moved to Exeter, Nebraska and then to Smith Center, Kansas where Farrel was a nursing home administrator and Ruth worked in the kitchen or laundry areas as needed. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker. She dedicated her life to serving Christ and the local congregation she attended. She loved gardening, reading, sewing, quilting, cooking, family, and church activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Farrel, in 1983, her son Harvey in 1998, her brothers Raymond, Evert, Edward, and Robert Palser and her sisters Francis Palser, Mae Turner, and Alsa Harzler.She will be greatly missed by her sole surviving brother David Palser and many other relatives and friends. Ruth's life is exemplified by Philippians 3:14"I press on towards the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 8th at Calvary Gospel Church, 118 W. New York Ave. Smith Center, Kansas with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, Kansas.The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
