Obituary of Betty "Ann" Norten

Betty "Ann" Norten was carried home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday September 11th 2010 after a two-year battle with cancer. Ann was a devoted, faithful and loving wife to her husband Dennis. Ann was an open-hearted daughter, dedicated sister, tender Aunt, irreplaceable grandmother and an authentic friend to all who knew her. Ann waits in heaven for her husband Dennis, son-in-law Ryan Norten, daughter-in-law Heather Norten and her grandchildren Hayden and Carys Norten.Ann was born on December 3rd 1951 to Talbert Smith and Betty Webb in Pikeville, Kentucky. The youngest of five children, Ann also leaves behind her mother Betty Lakin, her sisters: Connie Moore, Linda Hamilton, Darlene Payne and her brother Talbert Smith Jr. She also leaves her nieces Kim Bird, Jamie Martin along with her nephews Jeffrey and Larry Smith. Ann was preceded in death by her father Talbert Smith.Ann was a loyal servant to Christ along with being actively involved with her home church community of Woodmen Valley Chapel in Colorado Springs. She loved to sing and was often a participant of plays and musicals when the opportunities were presented. Ann relished working with children and partook in various events in youth ministry. Her grandchildren Hayden and Carys knew whole-heartedly how much their "NaNa" loved being with them. Ann treated them as treasures; both felt un-conditional love and knew that she appreciated them for who they were as individuals. The imprint she has left on their hearts will last their lifetimes. Ann devoted her life to Jesus Christ, her husband Dennis, Ryan, Heather, her grandchildren Hayden and Carys, her extended family and her many, many friends. People were drawn to Ann as she truly generated the light of Christ through her life. Ann engaged actively with everyone she met. She shared His love through her words and actions every day. The way she lived her life, marched into journey of cancer and even her death are a tribute to the love, grace and mercy God has for each of us. A private burial ceremony will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Thursday September 16th. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ann's life will be held at Woodmen Valley Chapel (290 E.
