Obituary of Robert Sebastian Abramo
Robert AbramoJune 14, 1945 – December 21, 2010Robert Abramo, 65, died of congestive heart failure on December 21, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born in Middletown, CT on June 14, 1945. Bob graduated from Middletown High School and earned a Bachelor of Science & Engineering Degree (1967) and a Master of Science & Engineering degree (1969) from the University of Connecticut (UConn). The consummate engineer, in profession and personality, he worked for 38 years as an Electrical Engineer to the Department of the Navy in CT before transferring to SPAWAR System Center in San Diego. He retired in 2006. Bob received many honors throughout his distinguished career of antenna design, including five patents and the Navy's Meritorious Civilian Service Award (the highest award for a civilian employee). After retiring, Bob found a new home in Colorado Springs, CO. He enjoyed bowling, golf, UConn basketball, major league baseball and being "Mr. Fix It", but his passion was for playing music, especially jazz and contemporary Christian music. He was an integral part of the praise service at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 16 years, Karyn; mother-in-law, Doris Burch, family from CT: sister, Gina & husband Len Fredericks; brothers, Guido & wife Barbara Abramo and Ray & wife Diane Santostefano and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 2520 Arlington Drive Colorado Springs.
