Obituary of Rhealdin Richard Dilts
Rhealdin Richard Dilts, age 78, passed away April 15, 2011 at Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born April 29, 1932 in Boone, Colorado.He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Daniel Webster Dilts and Viola Ethel Dilts; and his sisters, Novelle Bernice Kolmorgan, Delores Louise Murr, Lola Fern Asbridge, and Glenna Kotinek. He is survived by his son, Daniel Darryl Dilts; his brothers, Leonard Leon Dilts and Donald Dale Dilts; and his sisters, Linda Scheryl Bloom and Joan Lorette Ramsey.Rhealdin entered the United States Air Force in August of 1954, served four years and was Honorably Discharged. During his time in the Air Force, he was a radar operator and was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. After his discharge from the Air Force, Rhealdin married Alice Synoground in 1963 and they had a son, Daniel D. Dilts, in 1965. Rhealdin was a concrete foreman on the first phase of the Eisenhower Tunnel.Rhealdin and his family moved to Colorado Springs in 1971. While in Colorado Springs he worked in a variety of locations including: concrete layer and general construction from 1971 to 1980, Fred's Bar, Rogers Bar, and Bloom's Bar from 1980 to 1992, transported cars for the Fountain Auto Auction from 1992 to 1995, and as a manufacturer at Speer Engineering from 1995 until he retired in 2003. He loved fishing, beer, gardening, the mountains, and driving around sight seeing. He also loved dogs and he had his companion, Duchess for twelve years until she passed away in the spring of 2010 and he received his dog, Princess for his birthday in 2010. Rhealdin became ill in January of 2011 and survived multiple surgeries, pneumonia, a rare colon infection which led to the removal of his colon, obtained a MRSA infection, and was on life support for 5 days. He was ultimately taken off of life support and was placed into Pikes Peak Hospice and remained there for a week and a half. He graduated from hospice and was taken to the Union Printers Home where he resided for two months prior to passing away due to complications of his hospital stay and COPD.
