During his time of service he was decorated with several honors: American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, and Good Conduct Medal. He enlisted as a Private and departed as a Sergeant of the 750th AAF BU 120th squadron. One of his children's favorite memories is when he would set them on his knee and teach them how to read and pray by repeating the scripture after him. Each night he led his family in Bible reading and prayer. Everett loved serving the Lord and others by holding the office of deacon, bus ministry, helped with Royal Ambassadors, Awanas and the King's Kids ministry. Dad was always there to help anyone who was in need. His favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 3:5-6. Dad was a dedicated husband. He was Shirley's sweetheart, best friend, and constant companion.
