To Sr Marguerite and family members of Bill Gaasch: My prayerful sympathies go out to all of you in the death of Bill. He himself, I learned, had suffered loss of those close to him several times in his life. In this week of the Good Shepherd, who wishes none to be lost, we raise him up to God, and pray for those who have accompanied him in life and death.

How we dislike loosing a good friend like Bill. We go way back and memories keep popping up. He will always be missed. Our house and family have been full of conversation from 1939 till the present. Iona was quite an experience.

Dear Rita and Family, Recently it has been a roller coaster ride caring for Bill at home but it was the best gift you could have given him.His fear of dying was quieted with his family surrounding him.You have shown your children and grandchild a great way to treat your elders and respect them. Bill is probably talking to everyone about the great family he has left behind. I will see you soon to share in the celebration of his life.

Although it brings great sadness to lose a loved one, knowing he is in a far better place and no longer suffering will hopefully ease your pain.

Dear Rita and Family, As we say our earthly farewells to Bill, let us all be thankful that his suffering has ended and he is now at peace. Our faith calls us to celebrate the New Life that awaits all of us. What eternity is like is a mystery but we know that "No eye has seen, no ear has heard what God has prepared for those who love." I think Bill must be celebrating right now with mom, dad, Helen, John, the twins (Mary and Theresa), Zachary, all our relatives, and his friends. I join you, Rita and family, as we celebrate Bill's life. Love, Sr. Marguerite Gaasch

Rita and Family -- I was so sorry to get the news of Bill's passing. Must be why I was thinking of you last weekend, and wondering how everyone was doing. I'm sorry I didn't have the time to call; I am glad that the whole family was able to be with Bill when he left us. ((Must be why I didn't call!!?? Glad I didn't interrupt that precious time!)) Cancer is a horrible horrible thing; no one seems to escape losing a loved one from it. Thinking of you all, saying prayers that God gives you strength during this time! Barb

Uncle Bill was a good man who always had a story to tell and was a walking Britannica encyclopedia (thats hard bound books of knowledge for all you wikipedia peeps). He could fix anything loved to tell stories. I have many memories of him doing so. We will see him again in heaven. Until then may God bring peace and comfort to Aunt Rita and all the family and friends that loved him so.

Gaasch family, It was with sadness we learned of the death of Bill. I have so many great memories of him, from the time he worked at the base with Dad (Bob Spartz) through the many fun get-togethers at the Thraens in Iona. I never knew one guy could have so many stories in him! And, he did...ready to share each and every one of them with all who would listen. His laugh was infectious - he would start and soon a chorus of sound could be heard with Bill in the midst. He will be missed but you have so many good memories. His spirit will be with you always. He is already sharing his best stories with the Heavenly Host. Blessings JoAnn and LeRoy
