Obituary of Lucille Fox Koch

Lucille Fox Koch was born to Charles and Mary (Miller) Fox on February 2, 1917, at the Moon Ranger Station in the Black Hills of South Dakota. She attended grade school in Hill City and graduated from Custer High School in 1934. After attending college at Wayne State College and Chadron State College in Nebraska, she taught school for five years in rural Custer County. On June 22, 1942, she married Jim Koch. They reared their family in Custer, where they lived until 1998 when they moved to Colorado Springs to be near their children. During her working years, Lucille was first employed in Custer at the Black Hills Power and Light Company, and later was Deputy County Treasurer for Custer County. Her final working years were spent in the administrative office of Custer State Hospital, until her retirement in 1974. Lucille was a life-long learner and avid reader who enjoyed a love of animals and a keen--if sometimes critical --interest in politics at every level.On Tuesday, May 10, 2011, Lucille died in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 94.Her husband, James (Jim) Koch, her parents, and two sisters, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Cara (Harry) Wrede, and her son, Ron (Alexandra) Koch of Colorado Springs; her grandson, Robert (Telly) Belton of Denver; and three great grandchildren, Devon, Kenny and Kevin.A celebration of life will be held in Colorado Springs at the home of her daughter, on May 16.
